Collaboration and Compromise

2007
The Board of Supervisors updates the gravel mining ordinance, increasing fees for companies that mine along Cache Creek to 10 cents per ton of aggregate sold to go to the Cache Creek Conservancy.  The updates also include improved environmental safeguards and requirements for cleaner vehicles.  With the changes supported by the County, the gravel industry, and environmentalists alike, former adversaries acknowledge the cooperative spirit that has developed in the 10 years since the gravel wars.
